Groceries
Premier - At the end of the road
Sells essentials like milk and other corner shop things along with a mix of pies, pasties and cakes from a variety of local bakeries. Also has wood and kindling for the wood burner
Coop and Sainsbury’s Local - Both walkable in Windermere town centre

Then Kendal has full sized Sainsburys, Asda and Morrisons

Mission
This is almost across the road from the house. Good cakes, food and coffee
Homeground
Great spot for breakfast or brunch. Their hash browns are a must. But be warned, it’s very popular and if you don’t get there at opening you’ll have to queue
Toast
Mainly coffee and pastries but has great toasties made with brioche
Windermere Jetty museum
The museum cafe has a nice selection of meals with great lakeside access with lovely views of the lake. A good spot if you have children and it’s raining too
Short drive/bus
Force - Ambleside
Cafe and restaurant with a terrace on the hill overlooking the lake. Great views
Wilfs - Stavely
Local cafe with other bakeries, cafes and icecream shops nearby. Great place to start walks and bike rides
Bakehouse - Greenodd
Breakfast, brunch, lunch along with takeaway cakes, pastries and cake.
Swallows and Amazons - near Coniston
Little cafe with lake access to coniston.
Lakeland food park - near Kendal
Collection of local food and drink shops including Rinaldo’s coffee roasters, Plumgarths Farm shop & Cafe and Wagtail Kitchen (pies)
Chesters By The River
Excellent lunch and cafe options and a good place to start a walk to elter water but parking can be tricky so get there early
